It isn’t just James Gunn and the team at DC Studios who are breathing new life in to the Batman: The Brave and the Bold brand. This May, DC will return to the legendary title for a brand new series which will feature stories from creators across the DC Universe.
During DC’s MegaCon panel, the Eisner Award-winning artist Mitch Gerads was on hand to discuss the story he and Tom King are working. Batman: The Brave and the Bold features a horrifying four-part retelling of the first bloody clash between The Joker and the Batman. A tale of loathing, lies, and laughter, this may be the most frightening Joker story in a generation.
Each issue will include stories centered around the Dark Knight and other characters from Gotham City, as well as other heroes from the DC universe. The 64-page over-sized issues will feature four different stories from different creative teams.
Alongside King and Gerads, artist Dan Mora (Batman/Superman: World’s Finest, Detective Comics) make his writing debut as he pens a series of Batman Black & White short stories. Ed Brisson and Jeff Spokes take on StormWatch as the team defends the planet from deadly villains. Finally, Iron Man writer Christopher Cantwell and Daredevil artist Javier Rodríguez will present the first part of a storyline called “The Order of the Black Lamp,” which sees Superman sent out on a mysterious quest.
The debut of Batman: The Brave and the Bold comes to comics shops on May 16.
