Review
In this issue we go deeper into the battle between heaven and hell with She-Spawn, Medieval and Soul Crusher take the task to fore as they hunt down Death Zone left open by Spawn and close the time – rip and stop the evil coming through to this realm. It certainly won’t be an easy task but then this isn’t the playground this is a dark battle that they may not even return from, but that is a risk they need to take for the protection of the human race.
Meanwhile in Hell, Spawn’s days are numbered a unit of terrifying strength is coming together, Necro, Love and Mandarin attend an audience with the almighty Urizen who’s getting restless and wanting answers and assurances that the mission will be completed. What happens next could well be the test for Spawn that could well spell the end and if a certain character has anything to say about it there definitely is an explosive encounter ahead.
Sean Lewis has once again brought an epic story that brings the war between Heaven and Hell to life with his unique style that has been a strength to this series throughout, the building of each individual character story has created a combined story arc that definitely has the potential for more.
The illustrations once again are strong, not only does Stephen Segovia keep the Spawn style that fans love he also brings a sense of power to the characters with She-Spawn looking like the sultry power house she is meant to be and Medieval giving off a dark and menacing presence. Each and every issue the creative team really pull together and as a unit create a masterpiece that I always feel can’t be topped but then the next issue is released and once again I am blown away.
A special mention needs to go to Mark Spears for an incredible cover for this issue (pictured above) it really captures the mood of the story.
Verdict
A powerful issue that is probably one of my favourites from the series so far. The creative team have once again brought a masterpiece, prepare to be blown away.
