Magic #24 is published by BOOM! Studios, written by Jed Mackay and Rich Douek and illustrated by Arianna Consonni.

Issue #24 is available 1st March 2023 either directly from BOOM! Studios online or from your local comic book store, digital copies will be available to download from the usual content providers.

    Synopsis

As the grand finale to the saga unfolds, the aftermath of the events on Amonkhet leave Liliana, Garruk, and Chandra vulnerable to Marit Lage’s influence-making each a potential threat to the others! But what do Isona and Nicol Bolas’ capabilities mean for Aminatou’s plans for the multiverse? The answers await all the surviving Planeswalkers on Dominaria!

    Review

As the finale of this story arc gets ever closer this issue sees the aftermath of the events on Amonkhet, the Planeswalkers must come together to stop the impending threat of Isona and Nicol Bolas who are getting stronger as time passes. With Bolas probably being one of the most powerful beings ever the signs of him getting stronger are only worrying and he needs to be stopped, Isona believes that Bolas will help her achieve what she set out to do but putting your trust in an evil force is never going to end well but can the Planeswalkers make her see this before it’s too late?

Jed Mackay and Rich Douek are a writing team that just works, this story arc is much like a fine wine getting better with age each issue sets the pace for the next and as the finale looms the anticipation has grown to the highest levels, the signs don’t look great for the Planeswalkers and I am excited to see how this arc will end.

I am personally glad that Arianna Consonni returns as the illustrator for this issue as I feel that she perfectly captures the MTG essence and provides an hypnotic style that pulls the reader deep into the story and you literally live every word you read, the bold art adds depth and helps create the overall feeling of the book.

Special mention has to go to Miguel Mercado supplying the main cover art for this issue which sees Isona and Nicol Bolas starring into the distance and the ever powerful look on the face of Bolas just sends chills through the body, fantastic artwork.

    Verdict

The story arc is coming to an end with a phenomenal ending, this build up issue sets the tone for the finale perfectly and definitely shouldn’t be missed. A well deserved epic ending is on the cards and I can’t wait to see the finale issue.
