Review
In this issue we see Gunslinger at the point of taking the fight to the heavens, the angels are ready for the fight and one in particular relishes the chance to get his hands on Gunslinger, Brute is unlike any of the other angels the sheer colossal size is intimidating alone, has Gunslinger bitten off more than he can chew? Most probably but that has never put off a Hellspawn in the past and don’t think it will now. A mystery hero that has come to Gunslingers side is unveiled and one we know deep down inside Gunslinger is more than happy to see.
There’s only one thing left to do for Gunslinger to achieve what he set out to do but this would mean one unlikely addition to his actual being, what happens next could well determine the path of Gunslinger altogether.
I just can’t fault the writing of Todd McFarlane a series that for some may have gone under the radar but for me it has some of the most exciting writing in comics, you can almost feel the intensity of the writing from the pages as you hold the book. For me the Gunslinger Spawn character is one that is growing with strength as the story moves along and having a name like Todd McFarlane responsible of putting the words together you just know the story is going to keep that strength.
In this particular issue the illustrations are some of the best I have seen recently, Brett Booth has supplied some of his best work in this issue that still has that almost trademark Spawn look to it but also has a rawness that draws your eyes deep into the pages.
Verdict
Another incredible issue, a story that is gathering pace with some of the best illustrations in comics at the moment, a strong series that is well worth picking up.
