The rift between Spawn and the Scorched continues to grow, and just as the tension reaches its boiling point, a call for help arrives. A call that the team can’t ignore.
Review
In this issue we catch up with The Scorched as the rift between them and Spawn reaches new levels, the introduction of the latest enemies causes more friction with Necro and Margaret Love showing their form hell bent on taking down Spawn and those who serve him. Necro is a human creation formed using part of Spawn’s Cape and parts of his victims making Necro probably the biggest challenge Spawn has ever known as he is close to battling himself. She-Spawn, Medieval and Soul Crusher battle against time to shut the dead zone that has opened up allowing all kinds of demons onto the surface, they also need to contend with the demons that have entered our space which is proving no mean feat. She-Spawn and the other members of the team are at the end, no one can see how they can move on from this and with one member having a huge announcement they may not even be able to.
Once again Sean Lewis has proved why he’s one of the best in the business right now, this series grows with strength with each issue, it will be interesting to see what Sean can do next with the team as it looks like the tension is beginning to get too much. The Scorched gives me everything I need in a comic, an emotionally charged story that leaves me going over the story in my mind even after I’ve finished.
The Scorched artwork has that signature Spawn feel to it with striking detail and vibrant images, giving more power to the written story, Stephen Segovia does a great job in adding more style and colour to the Spawn world. The cover image by David Mack (pictured above) is probably the strongest of the series yet it captures the incredible power that She-Spawn gives off and really drawers you to the book.
Verdict
There’s no other score I could give The Scorched at this point, this incredible series goes from strength to strength and I can’t wait to see what’s next, a definite 5⭐️ for me
