Willow has now officially finished, and boy! That finale was something special. It was full of action, heroic feats, laughs, and interesting teases. To begin with, it was difficult to determine whether this was going be a limited series, or whether it would spawn multiple seasons. While nothing has been officially confirmed as of yet, the season finale teased a 3 part arc. If all goes according to plan over at Disney+, the complete story of Willow could be told in 3 chapters with each chapter consisting of 8 episodes, although that is subject to change of course.
Once the credits finished rolling and we saw the book titled “Willow”, we thought it was all over. However, “Chapter One” was then returned to an old bookshelf with “Chapter Two” and “Chapter Three” waiting to be read. While it isn’t an official announcement, it seems as though Willow has its future mapped out already, which is somewhat ironic since the show focuses slightly on foresight.
The next step for us would be to wait for something from Disney. However, Warwick Davis seems incredibly confident that Season Two is good to go, and in Warwick Davis we trust. Now, this next part will dive into spoiler territory, so if you haven’t seen Episode 8- Children of the Wyrm, turn back now before it’s too late…
The realm is safe… Right? Well, not exactly. In fact, the danger has never been more imminent and severe. The Crone, a servant of The Wyrm, was fully intent on grooming Airk to be the “Harbinger of the Wyrm”, much like Bavmorda, but what does that mean?
The Wyrm is a mysterious magical force that is currently imprisoned beneath the surface of the world, The Crone and her followers wanted to free The Wyrm. In order for them to free The Wyrm, they need the “Harbinger”- how they actually plan on releasing The Wyrm is a mystery, but it’s an integral part of the Order and their beliefs. With The Crone gone, there’s no way of releasing The Wyrm, right?
This is where speculation comes into play, and this is purely what we think could happen in the following seasons. The last time we saw Graydon he was marooned in some sort of vision of the future, it looked very similar to Willow’s vision where he saw a dead Elora. But this vision was different… Elora was very much alive, and this time she was in control of an evil army full of monsters and other powerful beings. This strange vision seemingly teases Elora as a potential antagonist, which would technically complete a certain prophecy. Elora is prophecized to become an empress of the realm… Now, it doesn’t say that she has to become a “good” empress. This alternate reality could very much see Elora fulfill the prophecy by becoming a tyrannical leader.
However, let’s look at the alternative. Rather than Graydon being stuck in a vision, this could simply be a trick. By tricking Graydon into working with “Elora” he could become a new “Harbinger”. The Wyrm could be using Graydon by manipulating him into believing that he is working with Elora. With that in mind, Graydon could unknowingly become an antagonist which would be an interesting twist. With a romantic relationship brewing between Elora and Graydon, having them clash would really mix things up. The Wyrm is the main villain, but the series still needs another villain to carry the story forward, and it seems as though the show is trying to turn one of our heroes into a negative force of nature.
On the other hand, we could be wrong completely…
