    Review

In this special one shot anniversary collection we get to find out the history and the future of Wildstorm with short stories documenting the anti hero’s iconic journey. It is said that on Wildstorm’s original release it changed the landscape of comics and set the foundations for what was to come and it’s easy to see why the collection of stories hit hard and are action packed from the beginning. Being a big action fan in both film and comic straight away the chance to catch up on the history of such an iconic comic name was appealing to say the least. Wildstorm and it’s various support characters work well together in the similar vein to Suicide Squad with their distinct anti-hero vibe. Each of the short stories work well at giving the reader a back story to the whole team and getting them up to speed with what is going on in the universe.

The writing team involved in this collection are the top level of writers creating a collection of stories that keeps the reader engaged, there has been occasions when I have a collected series together it takes a while to get through but I didn’t have that problem here where I pretty much read it in one sitting as each story seemed to flow together making it almost impossible to put down.

The artwork of this book is phenomenal, again you have a premium level art team that has worked together to create a visual symphony that inspires the imagination and adds intense atmosphere to the stories. The cover art (pictured above) instantly grabbed my attention and built my anticipation to get into the story, a fantastic job done by the whole creative team involved.

    Verdict

A phenomenal collection of stories that will have you hooked from the start, if you haven’t read Wildstorm before but maybe you’re an anti-hero fan then you really need to get this into your collection.
