Shocking news from The Continent! Netflix’s The Witcher will officially be returning for a fourth season. However, here’s the kicker… Liam Hemsworth will be replacing Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia after Season 3. That’s right, Henry Cavill will be hanging his swords up and passing the mantle to Liam for Season 4.
Henry shared the news via Instagram.
Shortly after, Liam Hemsworth shared a statement following Cavill’s departure expressing his excitement for the future, as well as his gratitude towards Cavill for what he’s done with the role.
“As a Witcher fan I’m over the moon about the opportunity to play Geralt of Rivia,” Hemsworth said. “Henry Cavill has been an incredible Geralt, and I’m honoured that he’s handing me the reins and allowing me to take up the White Wolf’s blades for the next chapter of his adventure. Henry, I’ve been a fan of yours for years and was inspired by what you brought to this beloved character. I may have some big boots to fill, but I’m truly excited to be stepping into The Witcher world.”
Of course, it is incredibly sad to see Henry go. What he’s done for The Witcher universe will never be forgotten. It’s likely that we’ll see Cavill on screen again soon given the recent news about Superman, but knowing that Season 3 of The Witcher will be his last is saddening. Regardless, we’re excited to see what Liam brings to the table.
Season 3 of The Witcher will be coming to Netflix in summer of 2023. While we wait for Geralt’s return, we’ll be able to enjoy The Witcher: Blood Origin on December 25th, 2022. You won’t want to miss this gripping origin story that will finally reveal the secrets behind the Witchers.
