To celebrate the upcoming release of Black Adam we had the immense pleasure of talking to some of the cast and crew of DC’s upcoming blockbuster which is sure to wow audiences. To kick things off, we spoke briefly to the brilliant minds that helped bring Black Adam to fruitiion. Producers Hiram Garcia and Beau Flynn, who have both worked with Dwayne Johnson many times before, were absolutely brilliant at this Press Junket and we cannot thank them enough for their engagement and well articulated responses as we endeavoured to learn more about Black Adam. Speaking of which… Black Adam is out in cinemas in just TWO DAYS, make sure you book your tickets now.

“Hi guys! I absolutely loved Black Adam and it’s so cool to be here. Earlier, you were both talking about the Justice Society of America (JSA) and I was just wondering, obviously Black Adam is the star of the show but the JSA do such a good job at standing up to him and with him, how did you go about picking the members of the Justice Society? Which ones did you want to highlight the most?”
Hiram Garcia
“Well, you know we wanted to make sure that we had a nice split between the elder statesman vibe and some youth, and we also wanted to pull- make sure we were pulling some iconic characters from the JSA. So obviously, that’s where you lean into Doctor Fate and Hawkman, both of them bring a weight and history from comicbook lore into the JSA that made sense. We love the comic history between Smasher and Black Adam, if you’re fans of Black Adam you kinda know how those characters intertwine in interesting ways, so that made sense. Then, you know, we love the history of Cyclone and Ma Hunkel and what Ma Hunkel meant to the JSA. Look, there are so many characters to choose from the JSA, Beau and I were trying to grab them all, we’re very greedy.”
Beau Flynn
“We’re not done yet!”
Hiram Garcia
“Yeah! We’re not done yet, but we really love the team we settled on. It was a perfect balance between OG characters, some youth being infused there and the merging of those personalities to make for a really dynamic unit that was gunna go up against Black Adam.”
Beau Flynn
“And we really wanted to take advantage of the opportunity to tell a Gen Z very unique and fresh story between Cyclone and Atom Smasher and those were some scenes that we love in the film, as well as Hawkman and Doctor Fate. Those scenes are really unique in this genre and really powerful and elevated. There’s a lot going on! Every word and every message that they say there and the relationship really elevates. We think it’s those character moments that make this film special, or at least that’s what we aspire to do.”
Nearly 5,000 years after he was bestowed with the almighty powers of the ancient gods—and imprisoned just as quickly—Black Adam (Johnson) is freed from his earthly tomb, ready to unleash his unique form of justice on the modern world.
