Review
In this issue we see what we think is the end for Gunslinger Spawn with as Winterstone parades the severed head of the hellspawn as a trophy thinking he has finally defeated the Spawn, however with deception being one of Gunslinger’s strongest powers things aren’t what they seem and an angry Spawn is not really a Spawn you want to cross, without giving too much away this battle is far from over.
For me at the moment the Spawn multiverse is one of the most exciting collection of series in comics at the moment and having Todd McFarlane at the forefront writing this arc just adds more power to the brand. With each passing issue the Gunslinger arc continues to grow and the story becomes more and more intense, Spawn stories have always been action packed and intense but these new veins of story are breathing new life into the multiverse as a whole and I for one am definitely enjoying the ride.
When you’ve read any Spawn comic you come to expect a certain level of illustration, graphic but in a way that keeps in line with the story and thanks to Brett Booth this issue again ticks all the expected boxes in terms of illustrations giving fans of the series exactly what they want visually bringing to life the story on the page by adding dramatic tension in every panel.
Verdict
Another top marks release for Gunslinger Spawn, this has been an incredible series so far and I personally can’t see that changing anytime soon. Perfection may not be achievable but this is pretty close.
