Issue #1 is available 27th July 2022 either directly from Titan Comics online or from your local comic book store, digital copies will be available to download from the usual content providers.

    Synopsis

Enter the city of Yharnam through the eyes of its citizens, when new hunters take to the streets to fight against the cruel and unusual epidemic that has gripped the city. In the black of the night, families and faith will be tested…

    Review

In this first issue of the new Bloodborne: The Lady of The Lanterns story arc we see a strange unrest sweeping through Yharnam, it’s citizens are scared as a strange epidemic has the city in it’s grasp, a new breed of hunters take to the streets but is that enough?

Two children sit by a window awaiting their father’s return, he ventured out into the wet stormy night and said he wouldn’t be long, Lucien and Vivian are street smart and have the wits to look out for themselves, he’s been a while though and something doesn’t feel right. A darkened figure appears at the door, the children rush to the door expecting their father’s return but instead a weary figure appears with warnings of danger.

I have had the privilege of reading more of Cullen Bunn’s work and he is definitely one of my favourite writers, he definitely knows how to write a story whether it be horror or action his writing grips you tightly and doesn’t let you go. Being a fan of the Bloodborne game franchise I found this book to be an intense read and quite happily read it in one single sitting, Cullen does a great job at laying the foundations allowing the story to organically grow and evolve I am looking forward to see what the next issue brings.

As an artist this is the first time I have come across Piotr Kowalski and his work and liked what I saw, Piotr does a great job and elevating the story and giving it a raw depth making the reader feel part of the story world.

    Verdict

Overall I would say that a full mark 5⭐️ would be the only score I could give to this book, the creative team behind it are incredible and have forged a new modern classic. If you are a fan of the game then you definitely need to pick this up, or even if you just like your stories with a scary twist then you’ll not want to miss out on this. I would definitely put this in my top 5 this year.
