Whilst we were sleeping off our jet lag from flying out to Chicago last night, Kevin Feige was on stage at San Diego Comic Con blowing the roof off of Hall H. Anticipation for the panel was middling going in to the weekend. Many pundits expected the studio to hold back huge announcements for Disney’s own D23 event in September.
But Kevin Feige is not one to disappoint. A true showman at heart, he brought with him plenty of announcements to take the MCU right through 2025 and the end of what is know known as The Multiverse Saga.
To the surprise of many, Marvel Studios is ending its fourth phase with Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Intrestingly, Feige and co have left Spider-Man: No Way Home, Moon Knight and the recently completed Ms. Marvel off this listing. Beginning with Black Widow the opening chapter of The Multiverse Saga rolls through to the recently released Thor: Love and Thunder.
Then came the Phase 5 announcements. Phase 5 will begin on February 17, 2023, with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. This is followed up by James Gunn’s highly ancticipated Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 on May 5, 2023. During this time the Secret Invasion series will also land on Disney+.
Summer 2023 will see the debut of Echo, the Hawkeye spin-off, on Disney+. Also streaming on Disney+ in summer will be the second season of Loki starring Tom Hiddleston. Finally, summer will also see the release of The Marvel’s on July 28.
Whilst Feige did show off a title-treatment for Ironheart, he would only confirm that the series will come to Disney+ in late 2023. Although Riri Williams will debut in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, we’ll have to wait some time to see her headline her own series. Also arriving in late 2023 is Blade which has finally landed itself a release date. The film, starring Mahershala Ali will hit cinemas on November 3, 2023. Winter will also see the release of the formerly titled Agatha: House of Harkenss. That series now goes by the name Agatha: Coven of Chaos.
A huge announcement came for the beginning of 2024. Spring will see Charlie Cox return to the role of Daredevil full time with the 18 episode series Daredevil: Born Again on Disney+. Then Sam Wilson will finally headline his own film in Captain America: New World Order on May 3, 2024. Then Phase 5 will draw to a close with Thunderbolts releasing on July 26, 2024.
At this point fans expected Feige to draw his reveals to a close. But not, the Marvel Studios president decided to announce a number of films from Phase 6 of the MCU!
On November 8, 2024, Phase 6 begins with Marvel’s first family of superheroes: The Fantastic Four. Whilst Feige didn’t announce the full slate of Phase 6 movies, we do now that on May 2, 2025 the next Avengers title will finally hit cinemas, Avengers: The Kany Dynasty! That will be followed by the hugely anticipated (and finally confirmed) Avengers: Secret Wars on November 7, 2025.
Missing from this list are any new Spider-Man titles plus any potential X-Men film. So look for those to fill some of the gaps in Phase 6. But as the next saga of the MCU begins to take shape, things certainly appear to be quite exciting!
