Warner Bros. Pictures has officially announced the beginning of production on Dune: Part Two. Alongside the announcement, the studio has also confirmed an expanded cast-list for the sequel to 2021’s $401.8M grossing original.
Once again directed by Denis Villeneuve, the film is shooting in several countries including Budapest, Abu Dhabi, Jordan and Italy. The news that cameras had begun rolling was announced via a simple photo posted to the film’s official social media channels:
Part Two will reunite Dune cast members including Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Dave Bautista, Charlotte Rampling, Stellan Skarsgård, Javier Bardem and Stephen McKinley Henderson.
Joining them in the sequel will be Florence Pugh, Lea Seydoux, Christopher Walken, Austin Butler and Souheila Yacoub. Several set photos of Pugh as Princess Irulan have already surfaced online.
The screenplay for Dune: Part Two has been written by Villeneuve and Jon Spaihts and produced by the director, with Mary Parent, Cale Boyter, Tanya Lapointe and Patrick McCormick and executive producers include Josh Grode, Herbert W. Gains, Brian Herbert, Byron Merritt, Kim Herbert, Thomas Tull, Jon Spaihts, Richard P. Rubinstein and John Harrison.
The film is currently slated for a November 17, 2023 release after moving from its originally announced October 20 date.
