The Scorched #6 is published by Image Comics, written by Sean Lewis and illustrated by Stephen Segovia.

Issue #6 is available 1st June 2022 either directly from Image Comics online or from your local comic book store, digital copies will be available to download from the usual content providers.

    Synopsis

There’s a reason that only one Hellspawn is supposed to exist at a time: they’re not meant to work alongside one another. Putting too many together is a recipe for disaster…as She-Spawn soon learns.

    Review

In this issue we see the continuing story of The Scorched as they search for answers. Haunt has Goe to see Bludd to see if he can give him the confession he needs and he’s in no mood for a quiet chat. The Scorched are regrouping back at base and Soul Crusher still has a level of mistrust above his head and doesn’t seem to be able to fully shake it off, the team aren’t convinced and Spawn himself definitely isn’t.

Spawn isn’t fully convinced of the strength and capabilities of The Scorched as a unit and doesn’t really want to join them as he has worked alone for so long, with Spawn being the only true hellspawn and the others being more hybrid it raises the question as to their strengths if they aren’t fully evolved.

Again I can’t fault the writing of Sean Lewis, he has created this dream team bringing together iconic characters each having their own big egos but all fitting into the story at equal points. I am hoping that this story arc will become similar to Marvel and The Avengers where we now have many solo stories and even spin off TV shows, how good would that be?.

The story is pretty dark which is what you would come to expect being a story from the Spawn universe and the person who could handle the illustrations would need to create equally dark artwork, step forward again Stephen Segovia who has managed to perfectly capture each word that Sean has written and elevate it to higher levels with intricate artwork that triggers the readers imagination and takes you on an action packed journey like no other.

    Verdict

I continue to be left in awe by this series, each issue creates more love for the story with expert writing and illustrations from the creative team. I am a big fan of the other superhero supersquads out there from DC and Marvel but The Scorched stand head and shoulders above them, a comic masterpiece that is just begging to become a cinematic wonder.
