Review
This issue sees the story arc continue following Forsaken as he takes the fight to Cordelia in the hope she’s got the answers he’s looking for. Spawn and Redeemer are hot on his heels seeting up a battle of epic proportions if they can actually get to him. Spawn is still on the tracks of the other remaining Spawns with four that were known to be captive others are still at large. There’s another problem for Spawn to deal with and it’s more of the big side of things, there’s something big that’s on the horizon and it’s going to be epic.
Rory McConville writes a dark and hard hitting story that gives the destructive cat and mouse story a dark and meaningful theme that carries through the book in a more traditional Spawn feel. The story has that underlying feel that something big is building to an epic scale.
The illustrations from Carlo Barberi give a distinctive dark tone with graphic detail and dramatic tones. Each page gives a vibrant tone to the story giving it a more multi dimensional feel to the story.
Creatively the team have worked well to create an almost perfect story that keeps true to Spawn traditions whilst creating a fresh feel, this is definitely an arc not to be missed.
Verdict
A vibrant cat and mouse story that is building to epic conclusions. This is a standard Spawn story but elevated to epic levels.
