Synopsis

SOUL CRUSHER returns to do battle with the Scorched! But why now, and why here?

Review

In this issue the arc continues with The Scorched now returned from Belarus having saved Reaper from the tortures of the Angels bringing back with them a surprising addition in the form of former enemy Soul Crusher, he has important information for them but can he be trusted or is this all an elaborate trap?

A new enemy has emerged from the shadows, one that is hellbent on the destruction of The Scorched and all the Hell Spawn and opening the dead zone to unleash carnage into the world’s and wip out the human race, this enemy is the Sentinels a mystery being of half machine half demon, but who made them this way? Is Soul Crusher telling the truth? So many questions need answering leaving The Scorched little time to regroup and hit back, this series is about to explode.

Over time Sean Lewis has become one of my favourite writers, this series has brought together a team of powerful characters each slotting together to form an anti hero super group that makes The Suicide Squad seem like a scout troop. Each issue has been expertly written by Sean creating a series that is building with intensity with each issue heading towards an ending that will blow the readers mind of that I am sure.

Stephen Segovia is back once again with his signature style of illustrations that perfectly brings the characters to life on the pages, each character’s personality comes through with the artwork adding to the intense feel of the comic creating a series that has the reader transfixed to every page.

For me personally I have found The Scorched a thrilling series that has grown in stature with each issue, the foundations were laid in earlier issues to allow the creative team to create a series on epic levels.

Verdict

A series that is rapidly becoming a favorite, definitely has that “just one more page” feeling to it with the story so intense you can’t put it down, a phenomenal job by the creative team.
