Review
For The Scorched the hunt is definitely on and in true Spawn style it’s taking a very dark turn.
This issue sees the group take the mission to underground Russia as they try to unearth the hidden dark secrets. The fight with the Fallen Angels takes a dark turn as they try to turn up the pressure on Spawn to open up the Dark Gates and open the pathways for the dead, for the sake of humanity this cannot be done but The Scorched must come up with a plan to save their friend Reaper and also need to save this realm from the Angels. The Scorched unexpectedly unleash a secret weapon but all is not what they believe to be, if anything this series is set to get a whole lot darker.
The Scorched is a series I had alot of hope for as the characters were definitely strong, I did however wonder how a story could contain all the strong individual characters, I certainly didn’t need to worry Sean Lewis has expertly brought together this super group of Spawn characters and made an elite level comic series that stays true to the Spawn universe. Each issue that passes makes the storyline stronger and definitely darker definitely making this a stand out series of the year so far.
Stephen Segovia once again has the task of bringing this story arc to life and he does in all the graphic glory we are used to from a Spawn story, each page is crammed with dark energy and bloodied action, it isn’t too over the top amd gives the story a deeper dimension expertly bringing story together.
Verdict
The Scorched has only intensified my Spawn fandom. The series is a perfect fir for the Spawn universe. I’m hoping that the big streaming services may pick it up as it would be incredible to see this on screen.
