This week finally sees the UK premiere of James Gunn’s Peacemaker on Sky and NOW. Ahead of the series’ premiere, we had the chance to speak with Gunn about the show and talk inevitably turned to the recently confirmed second season.
Beware spoilers for the end of season one.
Speaking on the writing process for season 2 Gunn said “I know what Peacemaker’s emotional journey is. I know where he is now and I know where he ends up. He’s been cleared by Adebayo whose sacrificed her own relationship with her mother to clear him. We see the beginnings of a friendship between him and Emilia Harcourt and a true friendship between him and some of the other characters. But we also see that his father looms whether or not he’s alive. Whatever that infection is that his father is, it’s still very much there. So I know where it goes emotionally and we’re figuring out the plot stuff.”
Gunn also confirmed that he is currently working on two other DC projects aside from the second season of Peacemaker. “I’m working on another DC thing and maybe another one so we’ve got a couple of different things that we’re balancing with the stories.”
In the past Gunn has confirmed development on another TV series for DC. As to the mystery third project? Well have to wait and see…
Peacemaker, written and produced by James Gunn, stars John Cena, Steve Agee, Danielle Brooks, Robert Patrick, Jennifer Holland, Chris Conrad, Chukwudi Iwuji, Lochlyn Munro, Annie Chang and Christopher Heyerdahl.
