Rogue Sun #1 is published by Image Comics, written by Ryan Parrott and illustrated by Abel.

Issue #1 is available from 2nd March 2022 either directly from Image Comics or from your local comic book store, digital copies will be available to download from the usual content providers.

    Synopsis

Rebellious teenager Dylan Siegel discovers that Rogue Sun was his estranged father, Marcus—and that he’s inherited his father’s mantle. Tasked with protecting our world from the forces of the supernatural—and solving his father’s murder—Dylan will be forced to come to terms with the man he’s spent the majority of his life hating.

    Review

I’m always keen to try something new when it comes to comics, I find it broadens my horizons and when I find that the writer is Ryan Parrott then I’m even more interested to take a look.

Rogue Sun is the latest story arc from acclaimed writer Ryan Parrott, coming from the Radiant Black multiverse, is a story of a new type of super hero albeit a reluctant one. Dylan Siegel inherits the Rogus Sun mantel from his estranged father Marcus coming as a massive surprise to his new family after his passing. It is down to Dylan to take on the Rogue Sun mantra and all that that entails bringing him new found powers but also new found enemies. Dylan must learn the ropes fast as crime and bad guys wait for no one.

Being a big fan of Ryan Parrott from his work with the Power Ranger multiverse, I straight away knew that I was going to enjoy the read the cover alone told me that the action packed theme that I was used to from his previous writing was going to carry on here and it does, Rogue Sun has the potential to become one of the contenders for this year.

This is the first time I have come across Abel as an illustrator but from what I have seen in this issue then his work is definitely in the high calibre range, each page is packed with immense detail using dark tones to capture the dramatic words and bright bold colours to introduce Rogue Sun. As a pairing I think Ryan and Abel work well together and I am excited to see what this series will bring it definitely has the potential to be epic.

    Verdict

Rogue Sun is the comic book hero we have been waiting for. I was anxious to see what this book was all about but instantly Ryan Parrott’s blistering story had me sold.
