Buffy The LastVampire Slayer #4 is published by BOOM! Studios, written by Casey Gilly and illustrated by Joe Jaro.

Issue #4 is available from 9th March 2022 either directly from Boom! Studios or from your local comic book store, digital copies will be available to download from the usual content providers.

    Synopsis

The Slayer and her allies make one last desperate attempt to bring sunlight back to Earth and send the reigning Evil forces back into the shadows . . . but the loss of Buffy’s powers is proving too much to bear, and even with the help of Spike, the witches, and newly discovered Potential Slayer Thess, she might not make it. Will Buffy be able to hold on long enough to save the world and see her Slayer legacy continue in Thess? Find out in the conclusion to the epic post-apocalyptic series!

    Review

Issue #7 sees the finally of one of the most powerful and dramatic story arc I have read from the Buffy universe, unfortunately all good things must come to an end and issue #4 brings the conclusion of this story.

The story has followed an older Buffy returned to bring back the sun to Earth and save it from the darkness that has consumed it, however things haven’t quite gone to plan for the legendary Slayer and in this issue it brings one final attempt to restore normality but with the loss of her powers this could be one fight too many for Buffy and her allies, although with Spike once again at her side they are willing to give it one final push. This book was a powerful read with emotion running throughout as Buffy looks to make choices and we see the potential new beginning unfold, an action packed story brought together perfectly with raw emotion.

Casey Gilly has expertly capture the true feeling of Buffy in this powerful emotionally driven story, from the first issue of this arc I was captivated with this new edgy side of Buffy that we hae never seen before and it worked well as a continuation that Buffy fans will most definitely enjoy.

The illustrations from Joe Jaro perfectly partner this dramatic story arc, using a bold style and dark tones really adds to the dark emotional vibe of the story adding depth to the arc. The creative pairing here of Gilly and Jaro are the perfect combination bringing a well known and loved story to the comic fantasy but giving it a whole new look and twist and it works great.

    Verdict

A unique take on a well loved cult story, Buffy The Last Vampire is without doubt one of the best comic series of this year so far bringing all the emotion and suspense into the story giving the reader the ultimate reading experience. A definite recommendation to any Buffy fan.
