Review
A superhero story arc straight from the old school, a hero comic character that we comic book fans grew up on, Ant is a comic book that pulls inspiration from the good days of comics in art style as well as story.
The continuation of the Ant story sees us follow Hannah Washington as she goes on her journey to become Ant, the hero the world needs, but can she be the hero she wants to be? The US government has other ideas believing that weaponization is the way to go. Ant should be the hero of the people fighting against the injustices of the world, correcting the wrongs Hannah has experienced on her journey.
Erik Larsen has written a story perfect for any action fan, the story holds nothing back and is definitely not apologising for it, fantastically over the top with an emotionally driven under tone with a story that feels like it would’ve been right at home in the early 90s and I am definitely loving the nostalgic feel.
The illustration style brought by Erik is over the top and bold, opens the eyes and wakens the imagination taking you along for the ride at hyper speed, so much so you need to take a breath when you finish reading.
Verdict
My new favourite superhero. A fantastic nostalgic feeling action packed thrill ride with a well written and deeper story, a great read that any action comic fan will enjoy.
