Gunslinger Spawn #1 (Image Comics)

Gunslinger Spawn #3 is published by Image Comics, written by Todd McFarlane, illustrated by Brett Booth, coloured by Andrew Dalhouse and lettered by Tom Orzechowski.

Print copies will be available 22nd December 2021 either directly from Image Comics or from your local comic book store. Digital copies will be available to download from the usual content providers.

Synopsis

The Gunslinger tries to protect the young man helping him, but comes face to face with a NEW VILLAIN from his Western past. And unfortunately, this could only lead to the return of a much more dangerous plot run by the one supervillain Gunslinger can’t defeat!

Review

In a dramatic return to the Spawn universe, Gunslinger Spawn #3 brings us a full on action packed chase as Gunslinger Spawn tries his best to protect Taylor from the threat that is coming, but maybe Gunslinger should be protecting himself as an even bigger threat is on his tail that could spell disaster. In what is rapidly becoming my favourite Spawn arc and easily top five comic series of the year, Gunslinger Spawn is edge of the seat action thrill ride in iconic Spawn fashion. This issue has it all action, comedy and suspense that will keep any fan wanting more.

Todd McFarlane can do no wrong when it comes to Spawn you just know what you’re going to get before you open the pages, from all the writers I come across Todd is the one that seems to jump off the page and hits you between the eyes with a story that is relentless from start to finish, this arc is building up to be one of the most exciting arcs of of year, it most definitely will be a bloody end.

The illustrations by Brett Booth really show Gunslinger Spawn in they way fans want a Spawn character to be, gritty and dark. The detail going into each page is phenomenal, it .add the reading more immersive for me and really helped my imagination build the story in my head.

Verdict

Another great piece of writing from Todd McFarlane and his creative team, Gunslinger Spawn as a character grows in strength with each issue and I can’t wait to see what’s coming next, fully recommend any Spawn fan to get involved with this character series.
