Despite previous comments about continuing as the Web-Slinger, it appears as though Marvel and Sony are already planning ahead with more Spider-Man movies. Given the somewhat turbulent relationship between Marvel and Sony, it has been speculated that this third movie could mark the end of their arragement. However, Sony’s Amy Pascal has confirmed that they already have more movies in motion.
Talking with Fandango, Pascal confirmed that Marvel Studios will be involved in the next batch of movies, with Tom Holland appearing in the next one.
Check out what Amy had to say below:
“This is not the last movie that we are going to make with Marvel – [this is not] the last Spider-Man movie,” Pascal says. “We are getting ready to make the next Spider-Man movie with Tom Holland and Marvel. We’re thinking of this as three films, and now we’re going to go onto the next three. This is not the last of our MCU movies.”
So think of the first three movies as a separate trilogy with “home” being the primary focus. This new trilogy will then focus on something different. It’s also very likely that the multiverse will remain a key component.
As stated, Tom Holland will return once again as Spider-Man, however based on his discussion with GQ his time as Spidey may be numbered. With the multiverse driving this upcoming chapter of Spider-Man’s career, the future is truly unpredictable. Villain’s could take any form and we could be faced with different versions of Spidey. Maybe No Way Home is setting the stage for Miles Morales?
