Paramount Doubles Down On Animated Adventures With Season 2 Renewal Of STAR TREK: PRODIGY

Paramount+ confirms that is has ordered a second season of brand new STAR TREK animated series PRODIGY.

It’s been just over two weeks since the series premiere of Star Trek: Prodigy on Paramount+. The latest animated incarnation of the beloved franchise has been setup to introduce younger audiences to the world of Star Trek. Today’s news would certainly confirm the game has paid off.

Paramount and CBS has confirmed they have officially ordered a second season of the series which brings Kate Mulgrew back to the franchise 20 years after the end of Star Trek: Voyager. According to the streamer, the October 28 series premiere had the top-performing premiere day out of any original animated kids series on the service.

The studio has also confirmed the first season will consist of 20 episodes. The first five episodes air through the end of November before taking a short hiatus. Prodigy will return in January to air episodes 6-10 before taking another hiatus. At the time of writing it is not confirmed when episodes 11-20 will air.

Developed for TV by Kevin and Dan Hageman, Star Trek: Prodigy stars Brett Gray, Ella Purnell, Angus Imrie, Rylee Alazraqui, Dee Bradley Baker and Jason Mantzoukas. The series also marks the return of Kate Mulgrew as a holographic version of Captain Janeway.
