This December writer Joshua Williamson is taking over the reigns of DC Comics main Batman book. Picking up directly from the Fear State arc, Williamson will debut with a four-issue arc with artist Jorge Molina (X-Men).
This brand new arc will find the Caped Crusader leaving Gotham City on the trail of a new mystery involving Batman, Inc., and a new foe: Abyss.
In the latest DC Connect the publisher has given fans a first look at the character in new concept design work by Molina.
As you can see Abyss cuts a rather intimidating figure. Cloaked in a tattered cape along with an LED helmet, the character also carries a “Shadow Blade,” a scythe which can split in to two knives and also be used as a grappling hook. The look is completed by a kevlar exoskeleton which should protect the wearer from an incoming Bat-gadet.
Batman #118 is on sale December 7, and the mystery deepens in Batman #119, on sale January 4, 2022.
