Review
In this issue we take a step away from the current story arc and traverse a different path. It’s in keeping with the general MTG universe, but takes the form of an origin-type story.
We take a look deeper into the origin of Jaya Ballard back before Planeswalkers were known. We learn how powers came into play and how her actions effected other situations years later. The story is told through the eyes of Jaya as she tells the Planeswalkers of her past, I found this was more engaging for some reason and fully invested me in the story.
Once again great writing from a creative way of getting the new story arc across but without losing the context of the actual story as a whole. Again the creative team have pulled it out the back with bold illustrations that really bring the words to life and captivate the readers imagination.
Verdict
Another great issue. I’m relishing every moment of my journey through the Magic The Gathering universe and looking forward to seeing what is in store next.
