Well, this is some very very exciting news. Zack Snyder’s hit Zombie-Heist film, Army of the Dead, is getting a prequel. No, that isn’t the exciting piece of news. We’ve known about the prequel for a while. Army of Thieves, which is being directed by Matthias Schweighöfer who plays Army of the Dead‘s Ludwig Dieter, has found a composer and it has us smiling.
Hans Zimmer is working alongside Steve Mazzaro to score the Zack Snyder-produced prequel. Considering that this prequel is taking place outside of the Zombie outbreak, we’re so ready to see a less terrifying heist movie with our new favourite safe-breaker. What’s even more exciting is imaging what Zimmer and Mazzaro will come up with. As huge soundtrack enthusiasts, maybe slight addicts, we’re always keen to listen to what the composers have in store. Of course, it may be a while before we hear anything so we’ll have to do some waiting. Regardless, this is some really cool news.

Zimmer and Mazzaro aren’t strangers either. The pair have had a great history together. They’ve worked on Man of Steel, The Dark Knight Rises and The Lone Ranger. Army of Thieves is guarenteed to have an epic soundtrack with these two working together again.
In this prequel to Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead, small-town bank teller Dieter gets drawn into the adventure of a lifetime when a mysterious woman recruits him to join a crew of Interpol’s most wanted criminals, attempting to heist a sequence of legendary, impossible-to-crack safes across Europe.

Army of the Dead stars Dave Bautista, Garret Dillahunt, Ella Purnell, Omari Hardwick, Raul Castillo, Tig Notaro, Theo Rossi and Ana de la Reguera. The film is available on Netflix right now. The prequel, Army of Thieves is coming out this fall. We’ll be sure to keep you posted on an official release date when one becomes available.
