State of Play was just last night and it brought something many of us have been desperate for. We got our first chunk of gameplay for Horizon Forbidden West and it was glorious. A whole 14 minutes of gameplay dedicated to showing keen fans the new machines, mechanics, visuals, and scenery. On top of the epic gameplay, we also got a recap from Horizon‘s Game Director Mathijs de Longe and Ben McCaw.
This sequel takes place roughly six months after the events of Horizon Zero Dawn. Aloy has traveled west to investigate something mysterious. While exploring these vast and beautiful lands, Aloy will stumble upon new machines, new companions and new enemies. This piece of gameplay shows Aloy confronting the Tenakth tribe who have also acquired the power to override and control the machines. Venturing into the heart of the remains of San Franscisco, Aloy attempts to rescue her friend so that she may continue her quest into the unknown.
Make sure you check out the gameplay below:
Fans of the first game will notice that Aloy has a brand new arsenal of tools this time. The Pullcaster will help Aloy scale buildings a lot quicker and will provide a nice escape when things get tough. Players will also have the Shieldwing which will let Aloy safely and gracefully descend from great heights. Finally, there is the Diving Mask. Players will finally be able to explore the underwater world that is filled with beauty and danger.
Horizon Forbidden West also features an array of new machines: Sunwings, Clawstriders, Tremortusks, Snapmaws and the Burrowers. Of Course, that’s just the start. Hopefully soon we’ll get some more information regarding what awaits Aloy in Horizon Forbidden West.
Currently, the game does not have a release date but we’ll be sure to keep you posted. What did you think of the gameplay? Let us know your thoughts in the comments. Don’t forget to check out more gaming news here.
