It will come as no surprise that Deadline is today reporting Disney is looking at another potential move for Black Widow. With the majority of global cinemas still closed the studio is now looking at options for what to do next.
Here in the UK cinemas are currently scheduled to re-open from May 17 with Black Widow currently set for a May 7 global release. A short move could allow the film to still open in its target month. But with other countries, particularly America, still working to vaccinate those at risk it seems a move further in to summer may be on the cards.
“Currently, the studio says that Black Widow is still going theatrical on May 7, and exhibition hasn’t heard otherwise,” the report explains. “They’re just very suspicious, since there weren’t any trailers for the Marvel movie on Raya this past weekend, only those for Disney’s May 28 theatrical release Cruella.”
With Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige reportedly against the idea of a streaming release, could we be about to see the remainder of Marvel’s Phase 4 moved backwards?
