Well here’s some news that we never saw coming. In a surprise announcement it’s been confirmed that DC Film is getting its very own Supergirl. The character is set to debut in 2022’s The Flash and will be played by The Young And The Restless actor Sasha Calle for the role.
Watch the moment that director Andy Muschietti told Calle she had won’t he role:
It certainly seems that the role means an awful lot to Calle already. In a separate article in Deadline Muschietti spoke more about the search for the big screen version of Kara Zor-El.
“I saw more than four hundred auditions. The US, Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Colombia. The talent pool was truly amazing and it was very hard to make a decision, but we finally found an actress who was destined to play this role.”
Calle joins a number of other DC Comics heroes who will appear in the film. With Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck both appearing as Batman, The Flash looks set to blow the DC Universe on film wide open.
Directed by Andy Muschietti, The Flash is set to star Ezra Miller as Barry Allen. The film is due for release on November 4, 2022.
