A lot of exciting news from the realm of video games. Once again, Lucasfilm Games are moving forward with another big game. First it was Indiana Jones, and now it’s Star Wars‘ turn. Taking to Instagram, Ubisoft revealed their upcoming plans.
Much like Indiana, not much is actually known about the game. From the announcement, we know that it will be open world and it will be story-driven. So, unlike previous games from EA, that focused primarily on the multiplayer experience, this game will hopefully be enriched with a deep narrative and the ability to explore the Galaxy more freely.
While Fallen Order did a great job at giving us a refreshing Star Wars adventure, it was very linear in its approach. Now, that wasn’t a problem for Fallen Order. In fact, the very contained narrative worked in its favor. However, an open world Star Wars game is something fans have wanted for years and we are finally getting it.
The Vice President of Lucasfilm Games, Douglas Reilly, had this to say about their upcoming endeavor:
“We know that fans of Star Wars value the feeling of immersion — of being transported into the Star Wars galaxy and moving through richly-detailed environments. It’s fun to imagine what the team at Massive can do within Star Wars by bringing their innovative spirit and their commitment to quality,”
So where does this leave EA? Well, their relationship is far from over. In face, Reilly goes on to say that they’ve “got a number of projects underway with the talented teams at EA”. Could we be getting even more Star Wars games in the future? We hope so.
This is incredibly exciting. The possibilities are endless. We cannot wait to see where this game takes us. However, much like Indiana’s game, we probably won’t see anything for quite some time. Regardless, this is a very promising start.
