Well, they certainly kept this one a secret, didn’t they? The last thing we were expecting was a post credit scene that set up a brand new spinoff show. Considering the wave of announcements we got prior to the season finale of The Mandalorian, we couldn’t quite believe what we witness.
But here we are. Next year, after the long awaited return of Boba Fett, we will be getting a brand new series focused on the great bounty hunter. It isn’t clear as to what this show will focus on but from the post credit scene, it looks as though Boba has claimed the throne at Jabba’s palace. What does it mean? hopefully we’ll find out soon.
Temuera Morrison (Boba Fett) and Ming-Na Wen (Fennec Shand) will star in the spinoff. Robert Rodriguez is serving as the executive producer, along with Favreau and Dave Filoni.
In an appearance on Good Morning America, Favreau actually clears a few things up.
“This is actually separate from The Mandalorian Season 3,” Favreau said before confirming that The Book of Boba Fett is currently filming, “and then we go into production after that with Season 3 of The Mandalorian, with the main character that we all have known and loved”.
