Margot Robbie could be sailing to plunder the seven seas as she heads to Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. According to Deadline, both her and Birds of Prey writer Christina Hodson are in early talks to front the next installment.
This new installment would act as a stand-alone film in the franchise rather than a sequel, according to THR. At this stage, it’s hard to determine whether this is the same film that the Chernobyl creator Craig Mazin and Ted Elliot are supposedly working on. Their film was set to reboot the franchise in an entirely new direction.

This is a very interesting development. We hope soon that some of the details are cleared up as they seem very hazy at the moment. The state of the franchise has been shrouded in mystery since the Johnny Depp and Amber Heard drama went viral.
It could be that Margot Robbie will star in a brand new reboot of the series or in a stand alone movie that is set within the Johnny Depp movies. After all, the post credit scene from Pirates 5 teased something very exciting. Unfortunately it looks as though that could be an idea that is slowly making its way to Davy Jones’ Locker.
