On April 6th, the One World: Together at Home show was announced. This event, organized by Lady Gaga, Global Citizen, and the World Health Organization, will began at 2:00 PM EST, and will include appearances from a very large number of number of today’s biggest Pop Culture icons. Hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, Jimmy Fallon, and Stephen Colbert, the event will even include a few actors who would be considered familiar faces to Marvel fans. Those names include none other than Danai Gurira, Lupita Nyong’o, and Samuel L. Jackson! Check out the full lineup of celebrities in the image below!
In addition to today’s show simply being a completely overwhelming event for pop culture gurus to look forward to, it also just goes to show that entertainment is more than just an escape, it’s something that can bring humans together in rough times like today. Actress Danai Gurira, mentioned above, spent years starring in The Walking Dead, a series with a premise that could arguably be considered to resemble human nature more than any other work of fiction in history. The main character in The Walking Dead, Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) was once given one of my favorite lines that I’ve ever heard on TV: “It’s human nature to come together.” That line and its context within the series means a lot to me, just as the performances that Gurira and many other artists may have in store for us today will most likely also mean a lot to me. One World: Together at Home was organized in an effort to support nurses, doctors, and healthcare workers of all kinds who continue to put their own health at risk, in order to help eliminate COVID-19 at one point or another.
One World Together at Home is premiering today on various streaming platforms like Twitch, YouTube, Prime Video, and more from 2:00 – 8:00 PM EST, and will also air on broadcast networks such as ABC, NBC, and more starting at 8:00 PM EST.
