Shooting continues on James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad has members of the cast are being caught shooting on the streets of Panama and other exotic locations. But one actor not yet spotted is Nathan Fillion.
The Firefly and Castle star recently sat down with SiriusXM’s Jessica Shaw (via The Hollywood Reporter) and talk briefly turned to the upcoming DC Films release. Sadly for some fans, Fillion confirmed that he will not be playing Arm-Fall-Off-Boy.
“That was never a comic I really dived into, so I didn’t know why they were talking about, and that certainly wasn’t the name I was reading in the script,” Fillion said. “So, I just said, ‘Yeah, yeah, go for it. Whatever you guys think is great so long as you’re not asking—’ it’s so secret. It’s so super, duper secret.”
“I start to sweat a little bit when people start getting close to what I would consider something that’s actually accurate,” added Fillion. “I’m the worst liar. I’m the worst. I couldn’t play poker to save my life.”
Fillion also talked about working with Saturday Night Live star Pete Davidson. “Let me tell you what I never knew about Pete Davidson, how incredibly charming he is,” Fillion said. “Oh my god. I always thought that kid looked like ten miles of bad road. Who is this guy? Alright, who is this guy coming here? Here we go! Here we go! He is the nicest man. The nicest man! I used to think I was the nicest man!”
Returning from Suicide Squad are Viola Davis (Amanda Waller) and Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), Joel Kinnaman (Rick Flagg) and Jai Courtney (Captain Boomerang).
Officially joining them are David Dastmalchian, John Cena, Joaquin Cosio, Nathan Fillion, Mayling Ng, Flula Borg, Sean Gunn, Juan Diego Botto, Storm Reid, Pete Davidson, Taika Waititi,, Alice Braga, Steve Agee, Tinashe Kajese, Daniela Melchoir, Peter Capaldi, Julio Ruiz, Jennifer Holland, Idris Elba and Michael Rooker.
The Suicide Squad (aka Suicide Squad 2) is aiming for an August 6, 2020 release date.
