Great news for Disney and partners Lucasfilm as The Rise of Skywalker has finally crossed the $1 billion mark at the worldwide box office.
As the film hit half way through its fourth week in cinemas it, unofficially but very likely, cross the huge box office milestone. Having taken $3.4m in North America on Monday the ninth film in the Skywalker Saga was sitting at $996.5m worldwide.
As international figures aren’t revealed until the weekend it is very safe to say that by Wednesday the film was sitting at around $1.01b worldwide. Congratulations to J.J. Abrams and all involved.
https://youtu.be/MWiqKZLeK_0The film will see the return of Daisy Ridley (Rey), Adam Driver (Kylo Ren), John Boyega (Finn), Oscar Isaac (Poe Dameron), Lupita Nyong’o (Maz Kanata), Domhnall Gleeson (General Hux), Kelly Marie Tran (Rose Tico), Joonas Suotamo (Chewbacca), and Billie Lourd (Lieutenant Connix).
Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Anthony Daniels (C-3PO), and Billy Dee Williams (Lando Calrissian) will also all return to reprise their iconic roles from previous films.
The late Carrie Fisher will appear via previously unreleased archive footage.
