We all knew that it was coming but now the MPAA in North America has confirmed that Warner Bros. Birds of Prey will indeed be rated R.
The official notification on the MPAA website notes that the R-rating has been given due to “strong violence and language throughout, and some sexual and drug material.”
That’s no surprise given that the latest DC Films release comes straight from the mind of Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn. But what does this mean for UK audiences?
An R-rating will often equate to a 15 here in the UK as our criteria for an 18 rating are a little more liberal than North America. We should find out early in the new year exactly what rating the film has been given by the BBFC.
