Joker‘s road to the Oscars took a major step yesterday with the announcement of both the Golden Globe and Critics Choice awards nominations.
First up, the Todd Phillips directed film has picked up an impressive seven nominations at the Critics Choice Awards. The film was nominated in the prestigious Best Film category and also picked up nods for Best Actor for Joaquin Phoenix, Best Adapted Screenplay for Todd Phillips and Scott Silver, Best Cinematography for Lawrence Sher, Best Production Design for Mark Friedberg and Kris Moran, Best Hair and Makeup, and Best Score for Hildur Guanadottir.
Over at the Golden Globes, Joker picked up nominations for Best Drama, another Best Actor nod for Joaquin Phoenix, Best Director for Todd Phillips, once again Hildur Guanadottir also picks up a nomination for Best Score.

The film is being produced by Phillips and Bradley Cooper under their Joint Effort banner, and Emma Tillinger Koskoff. It is executive produced by Richard Baratta, Joseph Garner and Bruce Berman.
The film stars Joaquin Phoenix in the title role, also starring are Zazie Beetz, Bill Camp, Frances Conroy, Brett Cullen, Glenn Fleshler, Douglas Hodge, Marc Maron, Josh Pais, and Shea Whigham.
