Amazon Prime has announced that it has picked up a new comedy horror series from the writing team of Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. Truth Seekers is described by the studio as focussing on a team of part-time paranormal investigators who team up to uncover and film ghost sightings across the UK, sharing their adventures on an online channel for all to see. However, as they stake out haunted churches, underground bunkers and abandoned hospitals with their array of homemade ghost-detecting gizmos, their supernatural experiences grow more frequent, more terrifying and even deadly, as they begin to uncover a conspiracy that could bring about Armageddon for the entire human race.

Here is the full press release from Amazon:

AMAZON PRIME VIDEO ORDERS SUPERNATURAL HORROR COMEDY SERIES TRUTH SEEKERS CO-WRITTEN BY AND STARRING SIMON PEGG AND NICK FROST

Pegg & Frost’s brand new eight-part horror comedy series will launch exclusively on Amazon Prime Video in over 200 countries and territories

Latest UK produced Amazon Original series from Simon Pegg, Nick Frost and Miles Ketley’s production company Stolen Picture

LONDON – 5 AUGUST 2019 – Amazon Prime Video has today announced that it has secured global rights to Truth Seekers from Simon Pegg, Nick Frost and Miles Ketley’s UK based production company Stolen Picture. This new UK produced Amazon Original comedy horror series will launch exclusively on Amazon Prime Video in over 200 countries and territories.

Starring Nick Frost as Gus and Simon Pegg as Dave, Truth Seekers is a horror comedy series about a team of part-time paranormal investigators who team up to uncover and film ghost sightings across the UK, sharing their adventures on an online channel for all to see.

Set in a mysterious world filled with dread and just-out-of-sight monsters, Truth Seekers mixes the very funny with the very scary in an exciting take on genre storytelling from the minds that gave us Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, Sick Note and Paul.

Simon Pegg said: “Nick and I are delighted that Truth Seekers has found a home with Amazon Prime Video. We’re looking forward to working closely with them and creating something very special. These are truly exciting times for television and I can’t think of a better partner than Amazon to accompany us on a return to the smaller screen.”

Nick Frost said: “Simon, Miles and I, and everyone at Stolen Picture, are incredibly happy to be making Truth Seekers with our new partners, Amazon Prime Video. It’s been nothing but a joyride in seeing this mad tale of paranormal conspiracy unfold in all its understated brilliance. Amazon’s commitment and support of the show and of original programming generally, showed us that we couldn’t be collaborating with a bigger or better team.”

“We’re thrilled to be working with Simon, Nick and the entire team at Stolen Picture to make what is set to be the next thrilling Amazon Original series for Prime Video made by leading British talent,” said Georgia Brown, Director of European Amazon Original Series.  “I’m excited for audiences around the globe to see what they’re creating, and to meet the fantastic characters on this special, unique, and terrifying quest.”

Truth Seekers is co-written by Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Nat Saunders and James Serafinowicz who Executive Produce alongside Miles Ketley and Jim Field Smith who also serves as Director.  Further details including casting and launch date will be announced in due course.

Truth Seekers will join the thousands of TV shows and movies in the Prime Video catalogue, including UK produced Amazon Original series such as Good Omens, The Grand Tour and All or Nothing: Manchester City, and award winning and critically acclaimed global Amazon Original series including Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, Homecoming and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, all on Prime Video, which is available at no extra cost for Prime members.
