Melissa Benoist recently confirmed that Kara Zor-El would be donning a new costume in Supergirl‘s fifth season. Now the actress has debuted a behind-the-scenes image featuring the new outside.
It looks a little more armoured than her previous costume. It echoes the look of her special suit worn occasionally during season 4. The biggest difference is that the comic book accurate skirt has been swapped out for a full on pair of pants.
Benoist recently discussed the new costume and the reasons for it in an interview with Kevin Smith, you can check out the interview in the player below:
EW has also confirmed that Benoist will be directing the seventeenth episode of season five. Benoist tells the trade, “I’ve been wanting to direct since season 3, but couldn’t last year because of scheduling conflicts, so David Harewood did it first. I just felt really drawn to it for a couple of seasons now, just because you know the show so well, and you get to know the character, and the world, and the tone of the show so well that you can’t help but envision certain scenes in a certain way. I want to play with that.”
