Avengers: Endgame saw one pivotal moment which has plenty of fans excited for the future. The older Steve Rogers returned to our prime universe and passed his shield on to old friend Sam Wilson.
Anthony Mackie recently appeared at a FanFest event in San Antonio, Texas, and discussed how his version of Captain America will differ to Chris Evans’ version.
“I love Chris. Chris is an amazing Cap,” Mackie told the Fan Fest crowd [via CB]. “And I feel like, what he’s been able to do with that character, very few people have been able to do in any cinematic universe or span of films. Because he’s played Cap for A LOT of movies. To take that over, to be a part of that, the legacy of that, is a huge challenge. It’s something where a lot of people are going to expect me to be Chris Evans in the same suit, but a black dude. And that’s definitely not gonna happen.”
We’ll next see Mackie in the upcoming Falcon (Captain America?) and Winter Soldier series for Disney+ so we shouldn’t have too long to wait to see the character transition to his new title.
