Some sad news has been confirmed today by the folks at CBR.com; Tom King is leaving the on-going Batman title by the end of 2019.
A rumour began over at Bleeding Cool that King had been removed from the series, not his choice, and that his last issue would be #85. King has spoken in the press about is 100+ issue plans for The Dark Knight. At this stage it seems those plans will be coming to a premature end.
CBR has been able to confirm that King has several new, unannounced projects planned for this year and next on which DC will release more details on them in the coming months.
He began his run on Batman with the Rebirth era and has taken us through the Gotham Girl arc, his non-wedding to Catwoman and most recently the City of Bane arc which is currently on-going.
King has yet to comment on the move aside from tweeting his thanks to friends and fans for kind words.
So many kind notes. You all rock.
