HBO is gearing up to unveil its Watchmen series later in 2019. Whilst the cable network has yet to release a full trailer for the series they have released a series of short teasers.
This latest trio focus on a series of familiar locales for fans of Alan Moore’s original comic run.
The first teaser features a pirate flag, with a Watchmen-yellow skull logo. Fans will recognise this as a nod to “Tales of the Black Freighter,” the story featured as the backup comic strip in each issue of the Watchmen series.
The second teaser features a blue sphere surrounded by oscillating rings. This is easily a nod to Dr. Manhattan with Mars also clearly referenced. Could we see the character as part of this new adaption?
The final teaser features an alternate design for the American flag. The caption reads “It’s not 1985 anymore,” and references the year of the events of the Watchmen comic.
Watchmen stars Jeremy Irons, Regina King, Don Johnson, Tim Blake Nelson, Louis Gossett Jr., Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Tom Mison, Adelaide Clemens, Andrew Howard, Frances Fisher, Jacob Ming-Trent, Sara Vickers, Dylan Schombing, Lily Rose Smith, and Adelynn Spoon. The series has been developed for TV by Damon Lindleof.
