There’s a reunion on the cards which should have Star Trek: The Next Generation fans excited. It has been announced that Jonathan Frakes, who played Commander William Riker on the series, will be directing the second and third episodes of Patrick Stewart’s upcoming solo series.
Speaking with TrekMovie.com Frakes broke the news and gave us some fresh details on the series setting.
“I think the fans are going to be thrilled and excited and surprised. I have had the privilege of reading the first couple of episodes and I have spent some time with Patrick who is so engaged, I feel so blessed to back. It’s so ironic that I spent so many years trying to expand where I was working.”
Frakes also confirmed that 18 years have passed since we last saw the former Enterprise captain at the end of 2002’s Star Trek: Nemesis.
The as-yet-untitled series is set to star Patrick Stewart, Santiago Cabrera Michelle Hurd and Evan Evagora and will debut on CBS All Access sometime in the not-too-distant future.
