PICARD solo-series pilot lands a director

It seems like production shaping up nicely for the Picard Star Trek spin-off. It has been revealed that Hanelle Culpepper will be helming the pilot for the new show.
Deadline reports the director has been tapped as the first female director to helm a pilot in the Star Trek franchise. Culpepper previously helmed the episode “Vaulting Ambition” in the first season of Discovery and has also helmed an upcoming episode of season 2.
Picard is aiming for a ten episode first season which is presumed to be entering production later in 2019 for a 2020 debut. Several character breakdowns were also recently released and hint that Picard may no longer be part of Starfleet when the series begins.
