Avengers: Endgame will mark Pepper Potts seventh appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. So it might come as no surprise that actress Gwyneth Paltrow has announced that she will be retiring from the role.

The character first appeared in Iron Man before going on to appear in both of its sequels. Potts also appeared in the first Avengers movie plus a cameo in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Most recently the character was seen in Avengers: Infinity War with many expecting her to suit up as Rescue in the upcoming Endgame.

Speaking with Variety Paltrow discussed the reasons behind her decision to step away from the role.

“I mean, I’m a bit old to be in a suit and all that at this point,” the actress said. “I feel very lucky that I did it, because I actually got talked into it. I was friends with [Iron Man director] Jon Favreau. It was such a wonderful experience making the first Iron Man and then to watch how important it has become to fans.”

If there was any news to soften this blow it is that Paltrow is open to a further Homecoming style cameo in the future.

” I feel honored to be a part of something that people are so passionate about,” she added. “Of course, if they said, ‘Can you come back for a day?,’ I will always be there if they need me.”
