The CW is gearing up to start production on its Batwoman pilot. Rumours point to production kicking off during Spring so have the show ready to go by the time the 2019/20 TV season pickups are made.
The pilot is being helmed by DCTV veteran David Nutter. Previously we’ve seen several character breakdowns for the show but now we have our first casting news.
Deadline is reporting that Teen Wolf alumna Meagan Tandy, Camrus Johnson (Luke Cage)and Nicole Kang (You) have all joined the show in key roles.
Tandy plays Sophie Moore, one of Kate Kane’s first loves in the comics. The character is described as “a high-level private security agent and one of Gotham’s staunchest protectors. Despite her bite and regimented outlook, Sophie has a soft side, illuminated by Kate Kane’s return.”
Kang will portray Kate’s step sister Mary Hamilton. “Excitable, talkative, and an influencer-in-the-making, what Mary lacks in a filter she makes up for with her compassion for Gotham’s underserved communities, proving she has more in common with Kate than she thinks.”
Finally, Johnson, has been cast as Luke Fox, who is the son of Batman ally Lucius Fox. Comics fans will know Fox eventually suits up as the hero Batwing. Luke “considers himself the guardian of all things Batman — specifically his symbol — he also recognises the city’s need for a new hero.”
