    Alternative ‘Justice League’ script details

Whilst the Justice League in cinemas hasn’t lived up to the expectations of some others have focussed on what could have been. Back in 2011 prior to Warner Bros. hiring of Zack Snyder to helm Man of Steel writer Will Beall was working on a script for Justice League. The Wrap has managed to get their hands on that script and shared some tantalising details on his vision.

Steppenwolf would take a more comic accurate role in the film playing second hand to Darkseid. An opening scene on Apokalips would introduce the villain before the action shifts to Earth. On Earth we would meet Lex Luthor doing a Kryptonite deal with KGBeast. The deal is interrupted by Killer Croc who ends up dead in the fracas thanks to an intervention from Desaad.

The Justice League in this film would be much more familiar with each other. The report goes on to say that the heroes are in the know to their secret identities and meet up in a Metropolis Diner to namedrop other heroes such as Wonder Woman, Green Lantern and Green Arrow.

The Flash is yet to join the League so current members head off to Central City to draft him in.

Amanda Waller and King Faraday run the Department of Metahuman Affairs, after the events at Luthor Crop they obtain the body of Killer Croc as part of their scheming. Through them we would meet Abel Terrant (Tattooed Man), Copperhead, Barbara Minerva (Cheetah) and Solomon Grundy.

It’s then time to go off world with Green Lantern John Stewart and Thanagarian Katar Hol, aka Hawkman. The report talks about a cool action sequence inside a space-station nightclub as they try to stop Kanjar Ro from helping Dessad realise his plans. Superman ends up kidnapped by Steppenwolf and the Parademons and taken back to Apokolips to be brainwashed.

Going in to act two Batman journeys to Themyscira to bring Wonder Woman in to help the team. Through their exchange we learn that they have a romantic history with each other. Barry Allen and Diana Prince meet in the Batcave which is filled with paraphernalia from his crime fighting history.

John Stewart returns to the Lantern homeward of Oa to find several of the Lantern members murdered by Darkseid and his team. Whilst Stewart is distracted off world Darkseid would invade Earth with the brainwashed Superman at his side.

In a moment which would come to pass in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Bruce would don the armoured Batsuit to battle Superman. Eventually it would be Diana who would help snap Supes out of his spell.

Superman travels via boom tube to Earth eleven years in the future. When he arrives he finds a world similar to that of Bruce Wayne’s nightmare vision in BvS. He finds Diana leading the human survivors in the war against Darkseid. She is joined by an ageing Bruce Wayne and their son Clark.

Batman also leads a team called the Berzerkers featuring Deathstroke, Huntress, Cheetah and Captain Boomerang. That’s a lineup fit for a Suicide Squad film if you ask us. Their base of operations is Superman’s Fortress of Solitude.

Future Lex figures out how to send Flash back in time. Future Barry Allen dies in the arms of his younger self whilst warning him of the impending doom. The Justice League travel to Apokolips to battle Darkseid and stop the events of the film from ever taking place.

Back on Earth the heroes toast their success and Mercy Graves plans Lex Luthor’s campaign for presidency. The film would end with Lex receiving a message from his future self… Clark Kent is Superman.

    END.

Wow that is a complicated script. So many characters. So many locations. It’s hugely overstuffed. So much of this script is pure DC Comics character and action it would be amazing for readers but we can’t help but feel the general audience would be confused.

What do you think? Would you prefer this film to Zack Snyder/Joss Whedon’s vision?

Fuelled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Supermans selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes – Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash – it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

Justice League stars Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/Superman and Gal Gadot as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman. Joining them are Jason Mamoa as Arthur Curry/Aquaman, Ray Fisher as Victor Stone/Cyborg, and Ezra Miller as Barry Allen/The Flash.

The film is directed by Zack Snyder and Joss Whedon from a screenplay by Chris Terrio. Justice League hits cinemas on November 17th 2017 from Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment.
