‘New Mutants’ trailer brings horror to the X-Men universe (plus gallery)

20th Century Fox has dropped the first trailer for it’s next X-Men universe project. New Mutants, directed by Josh Boone, takes the franchise to new territory by introducing elements of classic horror.

Characters Magik, Wolfsbane, Cannonball, Sunspot and Mirage will be caught up in a new origin story. They will find themselves held against their will in a secret facility as their pasts and their powers begin to emerge.

New Mutants stars Anya Taylor-Joy, Maisie Williams, Charlie Heaton, Blu Hunt, Henry Zaga, and Alice Braga. The film is directed by Josh Boone from a screenplay by Boone and Knate Lee. Production credits go to Simon Kinberg, Lauren Schuler Donner and Karen Rosenfelt.
