Yesterday we brought you the wonder-ful (get it?) news that Wonder Woman was proving to be a hit with film critics. Hovering between a score of 95% and 96% on Rotten Tomatoes the film was soaring above the rest of the DCEU and even the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Over the course of the day yesterday the positive reviews continued to roll. At the time of writing the film currently holds a 97% fresh rating based on 72 reviews. 70 of those reviews are classed as positive and only 2 as negative.
That places Wonder Woman as the joint highest rated superhero movie of all time! The only other film to score a 97% rating is Disney and Pixar’s The Incredibles.
The highest rated film within the Marvel Cinematic Universe is 2008’s Iron Man with a 94% fresh rating. Whilst the DCEU has struggled to get good reviews if week look back to 2008 again to see that The Dark Knight also scored a 94% fresh. The DCEU has so far only reached the lofty heights of a 55% fresh rating for 2013’s Man of Steel.
Whilst retaining that near perfect score of 97% that is not a sign that Wonder Woman is perfect. Rotten Tomatoes gives the film an aggregated score of 7.8/10 based on those 72 reviews whilst Metacritic have given the film a score of 77/100 based on current reviews.
